Welcome to the memorial page for

Adell Taylor

October 11, 1940 ~ October 5, 2015 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Ms. Adell Terese “Rusty” Taylor, nee Howard, 74, of Walterboro, long time resident of Beaufort, left this earthly existence Monday, October 5, 2015 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Taylor was predeceased by her mother Dolly Robertson, father Archie Lucius Howard, step father Coy Milton Robertson, sisters Julia “Jinx” Howard & Jessie Mae “Kitty” Pyles, nephew Timothy Lee Fontecchio, grandson Joseph Paul Buckman Taylor, and great granddaughter Ella Rose Auberry.

She worked with The Beaufort Salvation Army for 13 years. She enjoyed reading/watching anything to do with fantasy and science fiction, had a lifelong fascination with the otherworldly, and shared that love with everyone she met. She was in demand for her accuracy in reading palms and Tarot cards for friends.

She sewed, knitted and crocheted blankets/clothing for her daughters/grandchildren as well as for friends and by special request. She was an accomplished crafter, jeweler, canner and baker, winning several ribbons for pies, fruitcake and quilts. She refinished/reupholstered furniture as a hobby and was hired to reupholster all the chairs in the restaurant where she waitressed.

She passed her knowledge and creativity to others as a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother, and by participating in numerous organizations on several military bases while she was married to a U.S. Marine for 22 years. While non-denominational, she could recite scripture from the Old & New Testament and was curious and accepting of all beliefs. An impressive life for a girl from an orphanage, married at 13 and who never finished high school.  She was loved and will be missed by many.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters, George Kenneth Taylor, Richard Paul Taylor, Sherry Marie Taylor, Karl Vincent Taylor and Pamela Denice “Dixie” Taylor Corn,; seven grandchildren, Angela Sue Taylor, Kyle Lucius Taylor, Jeffrey David Taylor, Richard Dylan Taylor, Amber Terese Corn Smith, Harmony Rose Taylor Gilissen, Jasmine Frances Taylor; three great grandchildren, Caleb McClanahan, Koty Lee Matthews, Brooklyn Alexis Taylor, and two more on the way.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday evening, October 8, 2015, at 6 o’clock from the Brice W. Herndon Walterboro Chapel.
